2007 Toshikoshigeiko (New Year's Practice)

at Chamberlain Studios -- January 1, 2007


The New Year's Day Practice at Chamberlain Studios is a great way for all members to begin the new year. Each art practicing at the dojo will teach a small session so everyone gets to see what the others are doing. After the practice sessions, everyone will participate in cleaning the dojo from top to bottom. Then we will all enjoy some food and drinks at a local restaurant.

Dojo Anniversary & Birthday Party

April 7, 2007 - Jita Kyoei Dojo


Members from all the arts practiced at Chamberlain Studios of Self-Defense gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the dojo and also the birthday of Dr. Nick Chamberlain (dojo owner and kenpo instructor). Plenty of food and cake was consumed along with the company of friends and family.

Members of Jita Kyoei Dojo will get some intensive training in the Arizona heat. Shochugeiko is always full of good training and catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Fundamentals of Judo Workshop

at the Jita Kyoei Dojo with Bill Parker Sensei

Bill Parker (5dan judo) will lead a session exploring judo fundamentals (kuzushi, tsukuri, kake, etc) through an analysis of parts of the Kodokan Nage no Kata. This workshop is open to everyone, regardless of experience.

Bill Parker lead us on an exploration of several techniques from the Nage no Kata (uki otoshi, seoi nage, and uki waza). We finished the session with some randori and newaza. Everyone had a good time and we all look forward to the next one.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Workshop

Members of the dojo are invited to a workshop from 11am-1pm covering techniques and strategies from Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. The workshop will be taught by Robert DeFranco, who received his black belt from Carlos Machado, and teaches at the DFW Gun Range and DFW Jiu-jitsu.
