2005 Hatsugeiko & Embu

at Jita Kyoei Dojo -- January 8, 2005

4-5pm Hatsugeiko (practice)
5-6:30pm Embu (demonstrations)
7pm-?? Dinner

This is the third annual Hatsugeiko and Embu. Hatsugeiko is the first practice of the year and Embu are demonstrations by the members of the dojo and some other guests. In addition to aikido, there will also be demostrations of Kodokan Judo, Heike-ryu Jujutsu, and the koryu arts Shinto Muso Ryu Jo and Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido. After the demonstrations, we will head out for a sushi dinner.

Thanks to everybody that demonstrated this year, and to the spouses and family members that sat through it. The sushi dinner afterwards was excellent, as well. Can't wait until next year.

April 2nd Saturday 9am-Noon Open Keiko
Noon-2pm Lunch!

$80 for Jiyushinkai members, $95 for non-members

Friday night practice is limited to Jiyushinkai yudansha (black belts), but others are welcome to observe. All other sessions are open to everyone. A limited number of homestays are available, please contact us ahead of time.

Dojo Anniversary Demo & BBQ

Apr 16, 2005 - 1pm

Jita Kyoei Dojo will be doing a demonstration/introduction of aikido at the 24th Anniversary BBQ/Demo for Nick Chamberlain's dojo. There will also be demonstrations of the other arts practiced at the dojo. All Jita Kyoei Dojo members are invited to take part in the demonstration.

Planting Bamboo at the Dojo

Everyone is invited to come help plant the big potted bamboo in front of the dojo. Bring shovels, work clothes, and plenty of energy.

Thanks to everyone for coming out. We got all the bamboo planted and enjoyed some coconut juice in the hot Texas sun. And then some good training afterwards used up what little energy we had left.

Members of Jita Kyoei Dojo will get some intensive training in the Arizona heat. Shochugeiko is always full of good training and catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Aikido Seminar with David Martin Sensei

David Martin Sensei, Godan, of Shobu Aiki Dojo, will be teaching a seminar in Dallas at Jita Kyoei Dojo. In addition to the schedule above, there may be an additional open mat/free practice session on Sunday.

Everyone is welcome and a limited number of homestays are available. The fees for the seminar are $25 for members and $40 for non-members.

Big thanks to Martin Sensei and everyone that came out for a great seminar. Martin Sensei presented lots of wonderful ukemi drills and exercises that we will definitely be incorporating into class. He also explored the concept of musubi and its importance to not only tori, but also uke.
