Dallas Aikido Jita Kyoei Dojo

Aikido Seminar Group shot in Dallas

In 2000, Russell Waddell Sensei retired and closed the Aikibudo Dojo in Lewisville, Texas. Wishing to continue study of Jiyushinkai Aikibudo, the senior members and remaining students of the dojo formed Jita Kyoei Dojo.

Jita Kyoei is a Japanese phrase meaning "mutual benefit." We view our practice of budo as a way to improve, not only ourselves, but also each other. While learning how to throw each other around, we also learn how to get along and grow together.

Our dojo is a part of Chamberlain Studios of Self-Defense - a partnership that affords all members a nice facility in which to practice and many different perspectives from which to draw. Mutual benefit.

We work closely with our sister Jiyushinkai dojo, Shobu Aiki Dojo in Oklahoma City and Kitae Dojo in north Houston. We also mentor the Texas A&M Aikido Club in College Station. Joint training sessions occur several times throughout the year, in addition to our regular seminar schedule (please see current events).
